Into the Hobbit Hole...

I am burrowing into my hobbit hole for a few weeks of revision. And by "hobbit hole," I mean my couch and/or local coffee shop. Because, big shocker, I don't actually live in a hobbit hole.

BUT, BUT, BUT

if you would like a real hobbit hole to turn into a backyard writing office, purchasing one is not out of the realm of possibility! Check out this sweet design that you can buy:

Not a bad place to get the creative juices flowing, eh? You can see this design and more at Wooden-Wonders.com

*Dear Husband: If you are reading this blog (I know, I know, not likely), when we move to a place with a larger backyard, please buy me one of these for my birthday. I want a hobbit hole writing office. Seriously. I'm not kidding at all.*

When I return, I get to interview the amazing Chris Howard, author of Rootless

He will be six months post-publication and has had plenty of literary adventures to chat about. I'll be giving away a copy of his book as well, so be sure to tune back in on April 26 for a chance to win a fabulous read!

  1. The hobbit hole backyard writing office looks awesome. I'm pretty sure my kids would take it over, though.

    1. Yeah, they list one of the uses as a kids' play area. It's too be expected ~kids are drawn to miniature versions of life :)

  2. Mmmm...I think I'd prefer a modern home for a person my size. But all the more power to those who find hobbit holes a source of inspiration :)!

    1. I'm a little big for one too, but I'm sure they can loft the ceilings :) I like feeling nestled.

  3. Do have a very productive time in Revision City. Getting that writing polished up is always a good thing. Will look forward to your interview with the author of Rootless. I have that book on my TBR. Better move it up the reading list. :-)

  4. Oh my gosh! Jess, this totally a dream of mine. (Not kidding...) I would LOVE to have a Hobbit hole in my backyard to write in every day. So cool! I'm going to stalk that guy's website now.

And good luck on your revisions! Make all of the choices I wouldn't and it's sure to be awesome. :D

    1. Yay! Another hobbit hole lover! They should have a writer's commune that is completely made up of individual hobbit holes :)

  5. I would like an underground house.

    1. As would I. Although I do like natural light now and then. I'd need skylights :)

    2. Oh, there are ways to get natural light in. Some pretty cool ways, actually. And the whole house isn't underground, so there are windows.

    3. Then I heartily approve :)

  6. Have fun in your imaginary hole! :)

  7. I love it, especially the round windows! I'd probably be a little claustrophobic; I'd rather have a giant-sized Hobbit Hole, which kinda defeats the idea of a "Hobbit Hole," doesn't it? lol

    1. Ha! Maybe a little. I'd need a slightly higher-than-normal ceiling in order to feel okay as well :)

  9. Good luck with your revisions. I'll miss your blog posts! We could use a hobbit hole in the backyard, but I know I'd have to share it with the rest of my LOTR-loving family.

  10. Enjoy your hobbit hole revisions. How cool would it be to have my own hobbit hole-I'll pass that note on to my husband as well. I just found out about your blog from Kimberly at Meeting with My Muse. Great blog-I'm impressed with all the resources on your side bar and excited for your Rootless interview at the end of the moth.

  11. OK, the Hobbit hole is ultra-awesome. Thanks for posting it and good luck with the husband. Hard to make that a surprise though, pretend you don't see him digging a hole in the back yard. Or, hmmm... maybe most wives should kind of worry for other reasons if they see the husband digging a hole in the back yard...

But mine would have to be heated, or it would feel like an igloo in the winter (and apparently the spring).
