First Snow and October Book Releases

Though only a light dusting, the first snow arrived this morning, making me feel justified in buying a 30-pack of Swiss Miss hot chocolate packets earlier this week (in all fairness, we've got three kids and I'm drinking hot cocoa for two these days).

A more substantial downfall should hit this Saturday, when I get to drive to Denver to go see/meet Maggie Stiefvater (Shiver/Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, The Scorpio Races, The Raven Boys) and Brenna Yovanoff (The Replacement, The Space Between) at a book signing!

Fabulous blog PUB(lishing) CRAWL just posted a bunch of October releases to keep an eye on. Since I'm partial to MG, I'll tease you with these three covers:

  2. Snow? Burrrr. We had a cold front go through yesterday. (It was 78 yesterday) Only a high in the forties today. Very fallish. The leaves are changing 2 weeks early.

    1. It's one of those weird years here where some deciduous trees are still green and others have changed and are nearly bare. 78 sounds hot :) We're scheduled to get back into the 60s next week (in case you wanted more of a weather report :))

    1. Exciting, huh? Maybe not super exciting for us drivers, since it means the beginning of car-scraping season, but it's fun to see my litte one's reaction to the snow :)

  7. KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES is my Friday read. I'm not normally a die-hard MG fan. I do enjoy it, but with so little free time, I find myself struggling just to read the YA books I've got piling up. But KEEPER sounds too good to pass up. Plus, Shannon Messenger is hilarious. It's a win-win. :)

Your reference to Swiss Miss has me jonesing for some! But NY is super warm today. Go figure.

    1. 80 degrees? Man, I'd be melting if it was 80 degrees in October! I wonder if iced hot chocolate is any good? I guess that's kind of like chocolate milk...

  11. Here in Texas, still a bit to warm for snow, but you need not justify drinking lots and lots of hot chocolate. Enjoy it for general purposes :-)

Thanks for the titles, by the way. Just updated my TBR list. Have a great weekend.

  15. Congratulations on your baby! And, yes, definitely drink hot chocolate for two. My parents were in your area this weekend, and they said it was so snowy and the streets were horrible. You need all the warmth you can get. :-)

And I agree - those covers look fantastic! So many great books in the fall lineup!

And I'm getting ready to place a book order for three new releases: Keeper of the Lost Cities and two YA's, Stormdancer and What's Left of Me. Yay for Shannon Messenger!
