ABOUT ME

On the Appalachian Trail

Jessica Lawson enjoys living in Pennsylvania, where she and her family spend weekend hours exploring backroads and discovering old stone houses and barns to drool over. She likes pizza. A lot. Her middle grade books are published by Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers.

She fell in love with storytelling at an early age, and is a sucker for Roald Dahl, Mark Twain, RL LaFevers, Charles Dickens, Barbara Park, Amy Tan, Maryrose Wood, Barbara Cooney, Anne Ursu, Christopher Paul Curtis, Gail Carson Levine, Rita Williams-Garcia, Arnold Lobel, Isabel Allende, Sharon Creech, Eva Ibbotson, Dave Barry, Shannon Hale, Fannie Flagg, Maeve Binchy and many, many, many other wonderful authors (and illustrators).

She writes middle grade fiction, lots of to-do lists, and songs about the days of the week.

  1. Hey Jess! Thanks for commenting my on first chapter on unicornbell :) I'm really glad that you got that I didn't want to make a likeable character off the bat (or even one that feels guilty about her actions) because sometimes environment/circumstances simply produce less-than optimal traits. That's why characters grow :) So yeah, thanks again and I hope you enjoyed reading it!

  2. Nice to meet you Jessica. I loved your interview on Maisymak earlier this summer - I'm in the querying process for the first time and your insights encouraged and inspired me, another busy mom. Thanks for sharing your perspective.

  3. Hi, Jessica, thanks so much for your wonderful comment on my blog. You were asking how to order my book. You can actually order my book through the UK Amazon site, and the book will be mailed from the US division. Meanwhile, no, I live in California, which some people feel is another country. lol

    Have a great day, Elizabeth
